Event

Predicting the adaptive landscape of coral reefs

When

September 2022

location
Magnetic Island
Presenter
Hugo Harrison

The 3-day workshop will convene experts in coral biology and evolution to integrate measures of heat tolerance from experimental studies in the Coral Sea (Marzonie) and Great Barrier Reef (Nielsen & Bay), the demography of corals (Baird), the connectivity of coral populations (Howells), and environmental drivers of heat tolerance (Harrison), into existing eco-evolutionary simulations (McManus) to examine the adaptive potential to heat stress. Online networking events, data sharing & integration, and model simulations will be conducted ahead of the workshop and the resulting paper will aim to generate discussion on how, where and why coral adaptation is most likely to occur.
