Eva was born to yachtie parents who spent time cruising Melanesia before dragging their kids around Australia in a caravan and running a coral trout fishing business.  As such, she was forever doomed to a life of environmental enthusiasm, itchy feet, and a curiosity in fish and fisheries.  After completing a Bachelor of Marine Studies with Honours at the University of Queensland, Eva worked as a research assistant there for many years.  This time was interspersed with multiple scientific and conservation endeavours in South America, French Polynesia, the Philippines, the Arctic, and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, and the completion of a Master of Marine and Antarctic Science through the University of Tasmania.  These experiences cemented her interest in fisheries and warm climes, and after many years of trying to make contact she convinced Prof. Garry Russ to take her on for a PhD.  Her topic takes her to the Philippines to study the effectiveness of marine reserves under a variety of anthropogenic and environmental influences, under the supervisory prowess of Garry Russ, Andrew Hoey and Rene Abesamis.
