Egypt’s Red Sea coast from Hurghada in the north to Marsa Alam in the south comprises the region’s most developed diving infrastructure. Each gateway offers distinct reef experiences and accessibility levels.
Hurghada: The Diving Hub
Hurghada is the primary entry point, with direct international flights and comprehensive diving infrastructure. The town functions as a tourist resort area with dozens of dive operators, hotels, and restaurants. Nearby sites include Giftun Islands, Abu Nuhas wrecks, and Ras Muhammad National Park.
Sharm El-Sheikh: Sinai Peninsula Gateway
Located at the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula, offers dramatic reef experiences and easy shore access. Nearby sites include Ras Muhammad, Tiran Island, and Jackson Reef. Best for wall diving and pelagic encounters.
Marsa Alam: The Undeveloped South
South of the resort areas, represents the frontier of Red Sea tourism. Infrastructure is less developed, creating a genuine sense of adventure. Nearby sites include Daedalus Reef, Abu Dabbab, and Samadi Reef.
