Yogi Yasutake

Yogi Yasutake

PhD Candidate

James Cook University

Yogi Yasutake completed his BSc in Marine Science at Australian National University in Canberra. He then moved to James Cook University for his Honours to investigate how reproductive performance of tropical reef fish responded to warming at different timings and durations. Yogi recently started his PhD at JCU, beginning his studies remotely from Japan whilst travel to Australia is still restricted. His research project investigates if the capacity of tropical reef fish to cope with warming depends on whether warming is experienced as average temperature increase or as short heatwave events. This study aims to improve our understanding on how different aspects of future warming would influence the capacity of topical reef fish to persist. Yogi’s supervisors are Jennifer Donelson, Andrew Hoey and Morgan Pratchett.
