Sarah Buckley

PhD candidate

University of Queensland

Sarah is from Ireland, where she completed her Hons BSc in Zoology at University College Cork. During her honours she crossed the Irish and Celtic Seas observing the abundance and distribution of jellyfish and sunfish.  Following a trip to Japan, Sarah relocated to Brisbane, where she is undertaking a PhD at the University of Queensland under the supervision of Professor John Pandolfi and Dr. Ruth Thurstan. She is investigating the historical changes to Australia and Kenya’s marine fisheries. She is using historical, social and ecological techniques to provide baselines of former population sizes to provide management with appropriate baselines by which to set restoration and recovery targets.
