Ruby Grantham

PhD candidate

James Cook University

Ruby studied environmental economics as an undergraduate at the University of York, UK and continued as a Masters by Research student focusing on the economics of small-scale inland capture fisheries. Following this, she worked as an NGO consultant in Myanmar on projects relating to the governance and management of fisheries and aquaculture. Ruby is currently a PhD candidate working with Professor Graeme Cumming and David Mills. Her research looks at the resilience of subsistence fishing communities on small islands, with particular focus on the scale mismatches that arise within socio-ecological systems experiencing economic development and population growth.
