Oda grew up on the west coast of Norway where she developed her passion for the marine environment. She did her BSC in Biology at Carleton University, Canada, where she learnt about tropical coral reefs and she was immediately hooked. Enjoying the warmer climate of the Caribbean, she decided to pursue an MPhil in Marine Biology at James Cook University. Her research with Prof. Geoffrey Jones and Dr. Andrew Hoey focuses on habitat associations and preferences of settlement stage fish larvae in macroalgal nursery grounds.
