Advanced Research Fellow

University of Exeter, United Kingdom

+44 (0)13927 25892

Louisa is an environmental social scientist with interests in coastal governance and international development.

Her PhD at the University of East Anglia (UK, 2004-2008) explored issues of inclusion, knowledge-sharing, resilience, and complexity in coastal governance in Kenya. Louisa then moved to the WorldFish Center (Malaysia, 2008-2010) to continue work in applying resilience thinking in small-scale fisheries in the developing world. From 2010-2013 Louisa was a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies (Australia). Here her work investigated processes of coastal governance reform and transformation in Australia, Solomon Islands, and Tanzania.

As a new HASS Research Fellow at Exeter Louisa aims to engage with the policy and research priorities of the United Kingdom, and to foster new interdisciplinary collaborations across the humanities, social and natural sciences at Exeter and elsewhere.
