Grace is from the UK, and naturally has always dreamed of one day living in warmer climes! Grace completed her undergraduate degree (BSc (hons) Marine Geography) at Cardiff University in Wales. She developed a love of temperate marine systems and macroalgae during a 3-month placement in Greece whilst collecting data for her honours project; the effects of the invasive alga Caulerpa cylindracea on native macroalgae community composition and ecosystem structure. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Grace finally moved to the warmer climes of Northern Queensland to continue her macroalgae adventure but this time in tropical waters. Grace is now studying a MPhil with Dr. David Bourne and Dr. Andrew Hoey, investigating ecological and microbial coral-algal interactions, to begin to identify the role of microbes in shifting coral environments.
