Carrie Sims

PhD candidate

University of Queensland

Carrie grew up near the beach in Coffs Harbour on the mid-coast of East Australia. After four years travelling, she returned to Australia to complete an undergraduate degree in Science majoring in Zoology and Marine Biology, followed by an Honours year researching the biogeography of the cleaner wrasse at UQ. Following she spent some years working in consultancy on a number of environmental projects spanning terrestrial, freshwater and marine systems before returning to continue her studies. Carrie commenced a PhD at the beginning of 2016 under the supervision of Professor John Pandolfi, Dr Eugenia Sampayo and Dr Margie Mayfield. Her dissertation research focus is at local reef scales and examines how density-dependent processes and species interactions may mediate successful coral recruitment.
