PhD Candidate

James Cook University

Gabriela is a recently commenced (2021) JCU PhD student in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. Her research focuses on the development of conservation planning strategies in the coastal zone to integrate land-sea planning. She is specifically interested in incorporating vegetative coastal ecosystems in an integrated coastal zone management in order to mitigate climate change through the capture of carbon dioxide and to protect coastlines from sea level rise, as well as incorporating other ecosystem services, such as fisheries and protected species habitat.
