Abstract: Richard will present global patterns in the abundance, biomass and species richness of reef fishes, using Reef Life Survey data from 1,825 sites in 11 biogeographic realms. Inferences about the prevalence of resource limitation in reef fishes and the nature of the limiting resource will be made based on relationships between species richness and total fish biomass, and differences in the size-specific abundances of fishes utilising different resources.
Biography: Richard Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in Marine Ecology at the University of Auckland’s Leigh Marine Laboratory in northern New Zealand. He works mostly on subtidal rocky reefs, with a particular interest in the ecology of small mobile invertebrates.
