Position Statement
The Centre of Excellence is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager and Graduate Coordinator (FMGC) who will be a critical member of the operational management team, working with the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and the Centre Director in providing leadership in positioning the Centre and readying its capability for the future. The position is available on either a full-time or part-time basis. The FMGC has primary responsibility for two critical areas of the Centre's operations:
1. financial management of the Centre;
2. management of the graduate training, mentoring and career development program for graduate student and postdoctoral fellows of the Centre. Within these two key areas of responsibility the FMGC will be responsible for the Centre's planning, policy development, partners, external groups and institutions to further the Centre's objectives.
Key Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business or equivalent;
- Several years experience in financial management;
- Significant experience in developing and running customer support programs;
- Experience in working with national and international research and funding organisations;
- Experience in business planning and development;
- Commitment to effective business communication systems;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively contribute in a team working environment;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australia's Higher Education structure, policy and research funding environment.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Postgraduate qualifications;
- Marketing, promotion and media skills;
- Understanding of James Cook University's environment, structures, systems and policies;
- Proficiency in use of web publishing software and experience in production of web pages.

Employment Type
Appointment will be full-time or part-time for a fixed term until 30 June 2010 subject to a probationary period. Hours of work are open to negotiation.
Salary
$55,973.00 to $61,939.00 or pro rata p.a.
