ABSTRACT:

The fundamental unit of coral reef environments has become to be known as the coral holobiont. This entity is made up of a coral host and its microbial symbionts (both prokaryotic and eukaryotic members). My laboratory has been using genomic techniques to gain a better understanding of the holobiont and the interactions among its members. I will present an overview of the different approaches and questions with are addressing with these tools.
